SOMOS CALISTOGA, the Video!!!

Enjoy this six minute video by Calistoga High School students posted on the Calistoga Family Center website, and described below.  This video is not connected to Somos Napa – the name is a concidence.  The students however captured the same ideas that motivate our group  -  Somos Napa Editors/ Deb and Ednha.

By Victoria Li, Executive Director, Calistoga Family Center:

I am writing this letter to acknowledge the Calistoga Joint Unified School District and the Calistoga Family Center Director of Youth Link, Juan Hernandez.  Several months ago, the Calistoga High School students and staff discussed the issue of diversity.  As a result of that meeting, Juan Hernandez suggested channeling the students’ ideas into a “community building” exercise such as a video.

As a result, the students created the Somos/Yo Soy Calistoga! We/I am Calistoga! video.  The video is a reflection of their view of Calistoga and its citizens.  In approximately three months, the students mastered the video equipment and filmed the video.    It also offers the viewers an unique opportunity to share the high school students’ view of the city.  The video was presented to the Calistoga School Board on February 6.  To observe the video, please go to the Calistoga Family Center Website at www.calistogafamilycenter.org.

The Calistoga Family Center wishes to thank a number of organizations/individuals who have consistently supported the Calistoga Family Center Youth Link/Student Assistance Program. Without their support, there would be no Student Assistance Program.  First and foremost, we would like to thank the Calistoga Joint Unified School District for its support.  The Calistoga Joint Unified School District has been one of the Calistoga Family Center’s strongest partners and it is a privilege to work with the Superintendent, the school staff and the students.  Additionally, the Calistoga Family Center wishes to thank the Jones Family Foundation, the Napa County Office of Education, the Napa County Department of Human and Health Services, the Napa Valley Community Foundation, the Napa Valley Vintners, and Kaiser Permanente Foundation for generously supporting the Calistoga Family Center and the Youth Link/Student Assistance Program.  Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne Carver for her unwavering dedication and commitment to the Calistoga Family Center and the Calistoga community.

Sincerely,

Victoria Li

Executive Director

Calistoga Family Center
