You can call the Ranch Market Too and see if they still have some. The library in Yountville might get a copy and it is open on Saturday morning. Since the content is not online it is too hard to post on. However, Yountville is TINY so what people do is drive around and look at all the sales. As a member of the community , I am appalled that this image is on display for all the world to see. Is this the image we want to project to visitors from around the world.? As a parent of 3 black children living in Napa, I am particularly concerned about the effect this image has on people who see it. I know the artist said that he was just telling the true history of Napa, and there was Klan activity here. There are also members of this community who fought in WWII, Korea , Vietnam and more recently in the Middle East. Happily no-one has decided that images of atrocities that occurred during those wars are appropriate images for a public place. In particular, I would like to back up the brain based need for positive encouragement versus negative comments. I help students read, and find that a positive approach actually makes new neural pathways in the brain. The flip side is that negativity shuts down the brain. Basically, if you tell a person "no" too many times, the brain will stop seeking options, and stop building new pathways for learning. NVUSD is often a leading district in many aspects, and the adoption of this positive climate policy is a sign of the strength of our district. We are very fortunate to have such strong leadership in our district, as well as SOMOS as a platform to bring these positive changes into our awareness. Tanks so much, and have a beautiful day!
